These are the 6 problems that virtual reality has taken care of in education sector

Education nowadays is moving fast away from conventional teaching methods. Virtual reality has already knocked on the doors of education sector in many countries while more and more institutions are shifting their focus from blackboard tradition to the use of virtual reality in training and teaching students.

It has now been scientifically proven and established that learning power and focus of students increases tremendously when they learn the same information in a 3D environment. Virtual reality in education has made learning more enjoyable, fun and exciting for the students.

How Virtual Reality is Being Used in Education?

Before we discuss how virtual reality is modifying the education as we know it now, it is important and very crucial to know how the education has been imparted till this time to the students and why there was a need to introduce the application of virtual reality in this field.

Most of the educational institutions are now making use of computers, mobiles, supercomputers or laptops as means to teach, train or coach their students. But even before the era of computers or internet, students made use of books to gain or get whatever information they had to. Print media was extensively popular.

Reading from the physical books covered a significant period of time of the nineteenth century until computers became a common phenomenon in every household. Internet came even after that.

It was not until the beginning of 20th century when computers and laptops actually found their use in the education sector.

No matter how common or widely the books have been used or are being used, they had a few downsides. Teaching and learning from the books was based on the technique of reading and retaining the facts. Also, some people faced troubles and difficulties in mugging up tonnes of information at their disposal.

Virtual Reality helped in solving these problems to a significant extent.

In virtual reality, students can travel, explore and experience places, situations and objects which are not possible for them in reality. However, with the use of virtual reality, students can actually experience all this without even leaving the classrooms or even their chairs for that matter.

It is better for students to learn something by being present in that situation and experience it first-hand rather than reading it from some book or some screen.

Students are getting more practical knowledge especially in the field of biology, astronomy, geography and geology which otherwise would not have been possible. Students can actually visit galaxies, dig or visit places, perform operations on human and animal bodies with the use of VR.

Virtual reality is helping education institutions and organizations save a lot in terms of time and money.

VR is finding its use in telerobotics. In this field, students get to manage robots from a distance to perform certain tasks which would have required them to be present physically over that location.

VR gives students the power of scaling. A small VR device can actually give a student the experience of a science lab or planetarium. The fact that the software and hardware of a VR device can be customized to match any place or object, schools are opting for VR rather than building physical places which might incur a huge cost.
